What George Lucas told the two YouTube founders at D5’s opening-night cocktail reception. His suggestion was to fund a film school with their “some of their newfound Google money”.
YouTube may promote a larger amount of short “low brow” films but the ease of becoming famous seems like it would lure more into the video / film industry. After working in a medium for a period of time, many people seek more information to educate themselves from a desire to be taken more seriously.
I believe online video will change again the way we think about video. In the same way modern films have adapted a music video approach of drenching the screen with visual candy and trying to hold our ever shortening attention spans, online video focuses on what the public wants; the main course before the appetizer. Even commercials have changed their approach to include the same techniques found in most viral videos. The popularity of YouTube is a lesson of the future of video in terms of delivery, popularity, and feedback.

This has to be one of the greatest Illustrator artists I have ever seen. His illustrations look photo-realistic. The site says Yukio Miyamoto has been using Illustrator since it first came out. His illustrations rely heavily on gradient mesh tool which happens to be one of the hardest tools in illustrator to use. Many, including myself, only have a basic grasp of its power. Yukio obviously knows its power very well.

I just came across GelaSkins Inc. today. These things are great. GelaSkins are covers for your iPod and Apple laptops using premium grade 3M vinyl. They are removable with no residue left over and are intended for single uses but many customers have reported being able to reapply several times. The designs they have chosen are great and offer a wide array of styles. Each design has a link to the artist’s website to check out more of their work. My favorite is Bob Dob’s Mario and Luigi called “Rough Night Out”. The prices seem decent for the quality of the designs, with iPod covers going for $12.95 – $14.95 and Apple laptops going for $32.95.

This is the cover I am getting for my 30 Gb iPod.

Eric Edmondson was hit by a roadside bomb 18 months ago which left without the ability to walk, talk, or eat, due to brain damage. Eric since his injury has been painting as a way to not only communicate but also to help heal. His father says he can see enjoyment in his son while painting. Art has been recognized as a useful treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since Vietnam veterans returned home in the late 60’s. But due to many cutbacks in military spending, art therapy is no longer offered in many VA clinics. This is a great article and I hope the military can see as more young men come home with PTSD, art therapy should be another available tool for help heal solders.
