HDR Photography Tutorial

I came across this tutorial showing how to use Photomatix software and a modern camera to make HDR images.

HDR stands for high dynamic range and is a technique to allow for greater range of image exposure. Most of the images look very bright and vivid. This is an example from the wikipedia article dealing with HDRI.

It is hard to rate tutorials as long as all are written by professionals with a honest intent to teach. Writing a tutorial is difficult because it is tough to know what level of experience the person reading will have. You also want to make the tutorial generic enough that a wide range of artists will find it useful.

Grass Art

Grass art

Artists Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey created grass art for Wimbledon Tennis Championships. They are able to force the grass to develop more or less green color by taking a photo negative and putting the light through it. It acts like a light mask and lets the blades of grass act like pixels on a photograph. I am amazed at the level of detail.
